$101000 Goal Update – June 12th 2012

Hi,

I’ve had some people ask me about what happened to my $101,000 Goal.
That’s a good question, so how about a quick summary of the goal, and an update…

You may remember that the $101,000 goal was to start an acting degree in Sep 2012, which would last 3 years, and the combination of living costs and tuition fees, plus some for chocolate, would add up to $101,000.

That was the challenge, but it kind of hit a barrier when I failed the audition. They didn’t like my Shakespeare it seems (you never get feedback from auditions!), so the whole project sort of ground to a halt.

I’ll be honest, although it wasn’t this setback itself that caused it, I have felt tremors of depression, which is something I’ve experienced fully over the years. (I cover that in my books for example)

It’s meant that I haven’t written as much content, or made as much progress as I would like.

However, I’ve had a resurgence of impetus, and am now making good progress. I’m just finishing a new audio training about how anyone can make $30 per blog post, and to spur me on, I have signed up for some coaching myself, which is Dean Holland’s Quick Start Challenge.
It will be an interesting ride, and I’ll keep you updated with hopefully more regular posts!

‘Til Next Time,
Health & happiness,
Gordon

  • Hi Gordon,

It’s cool you like acting. I’m always backstage or in the control room, lol.

I found your blog while searching for other members who joined the challenge.

    Good luck!

    Regards,
    Bibs

    • Hi Bibs,
I must say whenever I have been performing, and getting paid for it too(!) I’ve felt like I was where I belong.
Unfortunately it’s one of the worst professions for money, so the plan is to be self financing online to allow me the freedom!

Good luck to us all in the challenge!
      Cheers, Gordon

  • The pic is hilarious and clearly, you’re an entertainer – so the audition was a bummer, clearly you’re on to better things – as an author, maybe? It will be interesting to see what you do with the Dean Holland training, and where it takes you…

    • Hi Jackie,
The audition was indeed a bummer, but that’s something you get used to the more you do, andonce you get the right mindset, you simply move on. My plan was to be self financing by this September to pay for it, so that’s why I needed the push of the challenge!

I love the writing, and now just need to monetise it correctly! Looking forward to seeing how we all progress!
      Cheers, Gordon

    • Hi Chris,
Thanks! I’m hoping to use the challenge to give myself a nudge! I know what to do, more often than not I need the accountability, so that’s what I’m hoping to get!

  • Hi Gordon,

Your blog looks really cool and I love the pic :-).

I am sure Dean Hollands coaching will be great so good luck and enjoy the ride.

    Rob

    • Hi Rob,
That act was one that made me laugh, but unfortunately not too many audiences! lol
I liked the name, so have used it online for years!

I’m enjoying the challenge so far, so good luck to us!
      Cheers, Gordon

  • Hi Gordon,

Nice website, I have also signed up for the QSC.

You have some very motivating content here, keep up the good work.

    Regards

    Paul

    • Thanks Paul,
I love writing about motivation, self improvement, etc and always appreciate it when people post to say they enjoy it.

I’m excited by the QSC and will *definitely* be using it to push myself onto the next level!

      Cheers,
      Gordon

    • Ha Rudy!
I guess it’s possible they loved my Shakespeare but just didn’t like my face! Ha!
I’m looking forward to seeing how we get on with this latest challenge!
      Cheers, Gordon

  • Hi Gordon,

Thanks for your comment on my website. Are you making any progress yet? Judging from the number of comments you have, traffic must be rising nicely. Have you done your video yet?

    regards

    Mark

    • Hi Mark,
I’ve just done my video, which instead of me being front of camera, I did as audio and slides, to show people that it can be fairly easy to get something put up there, which can be intimidating for newcomers.
I’m loving everyone’s enthusiasm! Cheers, Gordon

  • Hi Gordon,
I am amazed that you are on this training: Quick start challenge!
Your Business looks complete for me. And you are on the “rinse and repeat” stage really…
It just shows how much I have to work for my goals!

    All the best,
    Piotr

    • Hi Piotr,
Thanks for your words. I’m doing the challenge for a burst of motivation, to get a couple of product ideas finished and out there.
Don’t worry about where others are though, focus on your own stuff and as long as progress is made, that’s the success! Cheers, Gordon

  • Hi Gordon

Nice to meet you here in this site ;).
First of all, do not let your audition failure to put dampness into your life.
All of us have some successes and failures to a certain degrees in different stages of our lives. Things happened for a reason and why the audition didn’t work to what you want as who knows life has better things in store for you!

With this, you can transmute the dampness and channel your Renewed Energies and Positivity in the QSC challenge.

Let us envision this Great Success for you, for me and for the rest of the QSC challengers!

((( With Positive Cheers For All Of Us )))
    Sharon

    • Hi Sharon,
Thanks for your words. Having done lots of auditions in my life, you don’t worry when you don’t get it. So many people go for these things, that the default expectation is not to get it, because you never know what they are looking for, and rarely get feedback.

The trick is not to to say ‘I failed’, but to say ‘I didn’t get the job’ – it’s a totally different way of looking at the perspective.
(and something I write about in my book, just gone on kindle!!)

Good luck to all us challengers! Gordon

    • Hi Maria,
Thanks! I’ve been on some great adventures in my time using goal achievement techniques, and now’s the time for another one!

      Let’s keep the momentum going!
      Cheers, Gordon

  • Hi Gordon!
I have read some of your posts – not all yet; there’s quite a few! I like your writing style, and your site has been bookmarked! I’ll be interested to hear your $30 per blog post training. Until then, good luck with your continued success.
    Best wishes,
    Leila.

    • Thanks Leila!
I do enjoy the writing, so it’s always nice to hear people say they enjoy the reading! That training of mine is just about finished! Good Luck to us challengeees!
      Cheers,
      Gordon
