Here’s A Great Place To Get Ideas For Content!

One of the biggest challenges when it comes to blogging, is to come up with a supply of fresh relevant content. In this article I want to point you to a source that you can use over and over again…

Let’s not mess around, here’s the source – Facebook.

Yep, the ever growing social network site. So, how do you use facebook to get content ideas? Let me give you a real life example for my own blog.

As part of your traffic strategy you should already be using face book, setting up a page for your niche, making friends and interacting with people interested in that niche. You are doing all that, right?

It’s a great way to get free targeted traffic to your blog, and it’s a superb starting point for leading interested people all the way into paying customers. There is a bonus to developing that niche presence on face book though, and it’s that you will see content ideas all day long, provided by your niche!

I have my own blog, about goal achievement, self improvement and wealth creation.
So, I post links to my articles on face book, have set up the page, and friend other people interested in that area.

Today I saw a post which was short and sweet – it was literally only a few words, but it made such a good point that it had my fingers itching to get writing about an associated point.

I opened up my word processing package right there and then, and simply explained how the point I had read led me to my own point I wanted to make, and then explained *that* point as if I were talking about it to someone on the phone.

That’s one of my favourite article writing techniques, and in about 10 minutes I had an article over 400 words which provided great content for the goal achievement niche.

I whacked it on my blog, and then, of course, I linked to it from facebook!

Now, I’m not saying that everyone can write an article in 10 minutes, nor should they. Speed of writing is not essential, it’s the quality that counts. You may not be able to write an article there and then, but have a document set up for ideas, so you can get the gist of it down for when you do have time.

My point though, is about me getting a great idea for an article via face book, and then leveraging that idea into content I can use in many ways, maybe even sell it! It’s something you can do over and over to get quick and easy content ideas.

  • I have found many online sources of ideas for content for blogs, longer articles and programs that I develop for my Divorce Guidance and Co-Parenting Coaching.
I like to re-purpose my content in various ways that people can choose- including audio or video options if they prefer those to reading.

  • I love the idea! I have thought about how to merge my blog in a better way with the FanPage and gearing it toward the aspect of skin care as business, will make it easier to find a natural connection.

Thanks for input, it got clearer now! 🙂

    • Hi Stella,
I simply found that by connecting with people with the same interests, their short tiny posts can generate great content ideas.
I love how we can connect in so many ways nowadays!
      Cheers,
      Gordon

  • I find inspiration in all sorts of places. I do find interesting articles on Facebook and have written blog post either in response to said article or giving my unique take on the subject.

    • I enjoy taking inspiration from the small short posts which get me thinking, and if I’m thinking about something there’s normally an article in there somewhere!
      Cheers,

    • Ha! Thanks Deb!
It’s when I see a little post that has me wanting to shout out ‘yes I agree’ or ‘no, that’s rubbish’ that I open my article idea text file and get something down there before I forget it.
Think how different FB would be without the cats and menus! 😉

  • I typically find my ideas on others’ blogs or Linkedin conversations. When I look at a discussion that appeals to me, I typically find a point of view or resource I hadn’t considered and that opens up my writing bug quite nicely.

    • Hi Andrea,
I haven’t really got into Linkedin yet, but other blogs are great for ideas! It’s those points of view we hadn’t considered, or even disagree with, that can prompt some great content, you’re right.
      Cheers,
      Gordon
